Toronto Music Garden Flowers on July 10th, 2021.

Digital, 2021.

I’ve lived in Toronto all my life and yet I’ve never heard of the Toronto Music Gardens. I’ve seen photos taken there but I never questioned where they were taken. We decided to head down one weekend and I was amazed at how gorgeous the whole space was. When exploring the flower gardens, I loved seeing all these pretty flowers close up, especially allium!

I didn’t get more shots of the main space as we went on the weekend and it was pretty busy and I prefer not having any people in my shots. For that, it’s best to visit on a weekday, which we eventually did. Those photos will be up soon!

Flowers and Rain Drops on July 8th, 2021.

Digital, 2021.

Another “I’m really glad I had my camera on me” moment. It was raining on and off and I thought the lighting made everything look bright and well lit. You know those harsh shadows when it’s very sunny? This was the complete opposite of that. I thought this garden looked very surreal in this overcast light. Something about these flowers with the occasional water droplet just tugged at something in me.

Edwards Gardens Flowers on July 4th, 2021.

Digital, 2021.

A summer day spent at Edwards Gardens. A majority of the gardens were under construction so unfortunately, I couldn’t get the photos I was looking forward to taking. Instead, I took photos of flowers that caught my eye. Hopefully the gardens will fully open up again soon!

Lake Ontario on July 3rd, 2021.

Digital, 2021.

Nothing beats summer days by the lake. The air is cooler, the atmosphere is calmer, and the views are spectacular. I was amazed at how clear the water looked that day. I could have watched the gentle waves moving over the stones underwater all day. Sadly, I could not but I made sure to take photos!

Intense Sunset on July 1st, 2021.

Digital, 2021.

This sunset. This sunset. This one is for the books. This one tells all the others “all right, pack up, it’s time to go home.” I’m just still so amazed by it and so so SO happy that I was able to see it with my own two eyes and to photograph it. Unfortunately, I was unable to head to one of my usual sunsetting spots but I was lucky enough to have an okay vantage point from home. I keep thinking back to all the photographs that could have been but I’d rather have images than no images at all. The last time I remember seeing a sunset with clouds like this was probably around 2014/2015 if my memory serves correct. So it’s been a long time coming.

It was just so surreal to look up at the sky and to see those rare mammatus clouds forming. That’s when I knew I needed to go grab my camera and quick. Not only did I want a shot of those clouds then and there, but I knew that if conditions didn’t change, what was to follow was going to be brilliant. And brilliant it was. Slowly, colour started to seep in and once the sunset was in full swing, colours and clouds were changing every few minutes. I felt delirious trying to get every photo I could just in case. Sifting through all those images was Future Gina’s problem. But I’m glad I did as I got a wonderful selection of images.

Mother Nature really outdid herself with this one. Bravo.

Water by the Lake on June 27th, 2021.

Digital, 2021.

It’s true what they say that the air by the water feels different. This secluded area by Lake Ontario is one of my favourite discoveries this summer. I love sitting here and listening to the water lapping by the rocks and watching the waves meet the shore. If you’re lucky, you’ll spot some ducks with their ducklings nearby. If you’re even luckier, you’ll see a lovely sunset reflected off the water.
