A few shots of the vibrant pink sky we had on the 2nd. These were taken in the backyard where I’m lucky to have a great view of the brilliant sky. This is one of those sunsets that Torontonians will be talking about for a while.

The combination of blue skies at twilight and the tops of bare trees have always fascinated me. Summer, winter, any season, it always feels so dreamy going for a walk and looking up seeing the branches against the clear sky. This attachment also stems from the fact that this is a common occurrence in my actual dreams so seeing it in real life often feels otherworldly to me. These are simpler photos than what I usually capture but I’m still happy I had my camera with me on this walk. Sometimes it’s the simple moments that help pull us through.

Not the first sunset of 2021, but the first one I’ve taken! The sky began to glow after I left my spot thinking nothing would happen. Luckily, I was still able to find a place to get some photos of the red and pink sky.

My first photos of 2021! They’re just a little bit gloomy but I couldn’t resist capturing the pretty raindrops hanging on for dear life on some of those tree branches.

So, not only did I want to take photos at Brickworks during winter, I got to do that AND do it on Christmas after a snowstorm the night before! This may sound super cheesy, but it really felt like being inside a winter wonderland, or a snow globe after all the shaken snow settled. The snow clung to the trees in a way that doesn’t always happen and the atmosphere was silent. The only sounds in the air was distant chatter and the crunching of snow underneath your feet.
Since this year has been very different, we decided to do something different. Other families had the same idea but luckily, it wasn’t super crowded and people stuck to themselves or their group. I think it’s safe to say that absolutely everyone was in awe at the beauty of nature around them.
I hope that I’ll be able to visit again after another snowstorm. And let’s be frank, in Toronto another snowstorm is guaranteed. I only wish that I’ll be able to get there soon enough before all that fresh snow gets stepped on.

I haven’t been able to photograph a good sunset in a while. This was mostly due to missing them because of the sun setting way too early and not being able to get to my prime locations in time. Even here, I’m not so pleased that I realized the sky was erupting so late but I’m glad I was able to capture it regardless.

Our second visit to Brickworks this year, and on Halloween to boot! As you may remember, the 31st was also the last day before daylight savings ended. I really wanted to venture out and take advantage of that hour of sunlight we’d be losing. Under normal circumstances, we would be giving out chocolate to the kids, but this year we decided that it would be for the best if we skipped out.
Instead we decided to head out for some fresh air and beautiful nature. On a normal weekend, there would definitely be a lot more people out and about so bring a mask just in case. But on Halloween, I had a feeling that many people would be at home and that Brickworks would be more or less deserted. Last weekend, there were larger crowds out but as I had hoped, not so much on Halloween. We were able to head off on a longer trail and I was able to get some photos I was really happy with. This time, the whole family was out with no time constrictions so we were able to stay for a lot longer compared to the week before.
I really enjoy coming here and it’s so peaceful to be just surrounded by nature. The trees are definitely emptier now so this might have been our last autumn visit, sadly.

In Toronto, Evergreen Brickworks is the place to be during fall. No matter where you go, you’re surrounded by vivid, autumn leaves. If you decide to venture up higher, there are many trails you can lose yourself in. If not, there are places to explore down below. Either way, this is definitely a place where you do not want to rush your way through. If you let yourself absorb the views surrounding you, you won’t regret it!
