Soft lilac with a shallow depth of field. I don’t know what it is this year but I feel like I have flower mania. I see a flower and have this urge to take a million photos of it.
A purple tulip with pointed petals. I wasn’t sure what kind of flower this was and my mom suggested a tulip. I looked it up and lo and behold, there are tulips with spiky petals!
Various tulips from an afternoon walk. I was under the impression that tulips lasted for all of spring and summer but boy was I wrong! I’m glad I got these shots because these flowers have already wilted.
I am not quite sure what flowers these are but if I see pretty flowers, I take a photo. The cloudy sky provides a nice contrast against the dark purple blossoms.
Some French lilac flowers blooming in our backyard! Right at this moment, lilac season is already over. I thought they would be around all summer but that just goes to show how little I know about flower seasons. Also, did you know you could make lilac lemonade?? Because I sure didn’t! I’m hoping I remember this for next spring.
I brought my camera with me during an evening walk and snapped some photos of these blossoms. I usually prefer warm tones to go along with my flower photography but in this case, I loved how the cooler purple and blue colouring makes these images seem magical and ethereal.
The Scarborough Bluffs is one of my favourite places ever. With Lake Ontario being partly frozen, we decided to venture out to the Bluffs for some sights and fresh air. The day was definitely on the colder side so I’m glad I bundled up. The water wasn’t as frozen here as it was down by the pier. It’s possible that it was and eventually thawed with slightly warmer temperatures. Only the water right by the beach had turned into ice. I was hoping for a fully frozen lake here but it’s still February, so who knows what will happen in the future.
As the sun started to set, we ventured up top and I was able to capture some gorgeous scenes of the sky over the lake.
As a self proclaimed sunset chaser, I knew I had to go down to the pier and get some shots of the sunset while the lake was still frozen. Did we get that brilliant, the sky is on fire type of sunset? Sadly no, but in this case, I’m not picky at all. The reflection of the sky and sun in the frozen lake was just gorgeous. I feel like even the most “boring” types of sunsets would look stunning against this backdrop.
I may have missed the first significant snowfall in Toronto on November first, but exactly a month later, I was ready for the second! It may not have been much, and it has disappeared by now, but at least I was able to capture some stunning scenes in Toronto’s Withrow Park.
