A foggy day leads to a hazy sunset during a late autumn evening in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Conditions were not only favourable for a beautiful soft sunset but for a clear view of the sun, as well! At first, I wasn’t aware of what I was looking at as I wasn’t expecting to be able to see the sun in full view like that. To protect my eyes, I used the touchscreen on my camera to focus and take my photos.
A very foggy afternoon by the lake in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I was amazed at not only how foggy it was but how much it changed the landscape and overall atmosphere. Everything felt much more cozy and closed in. The shape of the sun was also very easy to see. Not wanting to risk looking at the sun at all, I used the touchscreen on my camera to view and focus my shot.
I was drawn to the way the late afternoon sun illuminated this landscape of leaves and a garden gate. I used a higher f-stop to get that lovely starburst sun.
This just might be one of my favourite photos I’ve ever taken. We found this secluded spot on a whim and I could not believe the views from here. Not only was everything beautifully frozen, but we had a nice view of the sky and sunset as well. There were tree branches everywhere and I thought they added some natural framing to the shot.
Most people would spend days like this indoors but many photographers love venturing out to see what frozen landscapes they can find. It was around -20°C on this day and I was for sure freezing my butt and fingers off. Even so, I enjoyed sitting on one of the rocks to relax and enjoy the view. If I listened closely, I could hear the sounds of ice cracking from one side of the shore to the other.
After taking a bunch of photos, I was reluctant to leave but it was very cold and the chill was starting to set in. I’m curious to see what this place looks like in the summer.
