Vibrant Sunset over Lake Ontario on January 8th, 2022.

Digital, 2022.

I never associated bright and vivid sunsets with winter but I’ve been proven wrong this season. My past thinking was mostly due to the sunset happening earlier in the day. This meant I was more likely to miss it. Since our sunsets here happen around 4:30pm at the earliest, it’s more difficult to venture out at that time. Compared to summer, when sunsets are around 9pm at the latest, it becomes quite obvious that the extra time makes quite a difference. Even if there’s no spectacular sunset in the summer, one can still enjoy the warm summer evening instead of trekking home in the cold winter weather.

A Purple and Pink Sunset on January 2nd, 2022.

Digital, 2022.

A soft purple and pink sunset overlooking a snowy Cherry Beach. When the sky started to light up pink and purple, I was hoping for a more intense sunset as I really loved this landscape. I wanted a vibrant sky to be reflected in the calm water below. Alas, that didn’t happen but I’m still happy with how serene and peaceful this photo turned out.

Turquoise Waters at Lake Ontario on January 1st, 2022.

Digital, 2022.

My first photos of 2022! On New Year’s Day, we decided to go down to Ashbridge’s Bay by the lake for some fresh air. Even though it was very cloudy that day, the water was so turquoise! I was anticipating murky grey or blue water to match the sky but the lake looked beautiful that day. It reminded me of Navy Pier from our trip to Chicago a few years back. Had the lake been its usual cloudy day colour, I don’t think I would have enjoyed taking these photos as much.

Toronto welcomed its first snowfall all the way back in November 2021. After taking some photos at the local park, we decided to head off to Evergreen Brickworks as the winter scenery is always gorgeous there. I’m always thankful that my love of photography brings me to these beautiful spaces.

First Snowfall in Toronto on November 28th, 2021.

Digital, 2021.

Toronto welcomed its first snowfall all the way back in November 2021. What a shock it was, waking up and seeing the world covered in a thick blanket of white. I automatically grabbed my camera and headed off to the park in hopes I would catch some pretty, wintery photos.

Autumn Landscapes in Toronto on November 7th, 2021.

Digital, 2021.

We decided to go to a local park for some fresh air and on the off chance that we would be able to spot some autumn foliage. I brought my camera just in case even though I honestly thought I wasn’t going to see anything noteworthy. Wow, was I ever wrong. Many of the trees had already shed their leaves but that meant that the ground was covered in beautiful shades of reds and oranges while the remaining leaves and branches were bathed in warm, golden hour light.

Getting closer to the trees was a bit of a challenge as the ground was very slippery. The mud and wet leaves made walking a bit of a difficulty and my running shoes were not made for terrain like that. This is also a bike path so when trekking out here, it’s best to keep an eye out for bikers approaching as they can be going quite fast and the hill is quite steep.

All in all, I didn’t take a tumble like I thought I would, and I got some beautiful photographs. I also took some videos on my phone that I’ll be posting to my Instagram Reels.

Autumn Landscapes in Toronto on November 6th, 2021.

Digital, 2021.

We visited Jack Darling Memorial Park for the first time back in the summer and I remember thinking to myself at that time that we needed to come back in the fall. I just knew that all those green trees but in shades of reds and oranges would be the most beautiful sight and boy, was I right! Sometimes, you really need to be at the right place at the right time and that couldn’t be more true with these photos. We were here closer to golden hour and the way the trees were lit up with that golden light was just absolutely stunning. At times, it looked as if the trees were on fire because they were so gold. I’ve never seen anything like it and I couldn’t help but be thankful that my love of photography has brought me to so many wonderful scenes.
