Snowfall at Brickworks on Christmas Day, 2020.

Digital, 2020.

So, not only did I want to take photos at Brickworks during winter, I got to do that AND do it on Christmas after a snowstorm the night before! This may sound super cheesy, but it really felt like being inside a winter wonderland, or a snow globe after all the shaken snow settled. The snow clung to the trees in a way that doesn’t always happen and the atmosphere was silent. The only sounds in the air was distant chatter and the crunching of snow underneath your feet.

Since this year has been very different, we decided to do something different. Other families had the same idea but luckily, it wasn’t super crowded and people stuck to themselves or their group. I think it’s safe to say that absolutely everyone was in awe at the beauty of nature around them.

I hope that I’ll be able to visit again after another snowstorm. And let’s be frank, in Toronto another snowstorm is guaranteed. I only wish that I’ll be able to get there soon enough before all that fresh snow gets stepped on.

Snowfall on December 1st, 2020.

Digital, 2020.

I may have missed the first significant snowfall in Toronto on November first, but exactly a month later, I was ready for the second! It may not have been much, and it has disappeared by now, but at least I was able to capture some stunning scenes in Toronto’s Withrow Park.

Scarborough Bluffs after a Snow Storm on January 27th, 2019.

Digital, 2019.

The previous day saw a huge storm so naturally, we went to the Scarborough Bluffs the next day for some photos. The snow was very deep and complete with a sheet of ice at the bottom. It made walking very difficult and we had to be super cautious. Naturally, that didn’t help and both my mom and I took a tumble and ended up with a face full of snow. Cue me holding my camera up not to get it wet! It was all worth it though!!

Frozen Niagara on January 7th, 2018.

Digital, 2018.

These are some of my favourite photos ever. I love Niagara Falls and have visited during every season, but nothing will ever beat this. In a rare deep freeze, the water down below froze solid. The ice covering the branches was a few centimetres deep. I honestly have never seen anything like it. It was like the ice storm in Toronto x10. It felt like something out of the movie Frozen. I’m sure these photos look cold enough, right? I can assure you it was so much colder in person. I was worried about my camera malfunctioning. The watery mist was no where to be found and in its place was a light sprinkling of snow. I was wearing mittens and while they kept my hands warm, I was constantly taking them off as operating my camera became difficult with them on. Which lead to my hands becoming beet red and numb. It was a process but would I do it all over again? Absolutely.
